Tibet, Shigatse, Tashilumpo Monastery

Tashilumpo monastery was founded in 1447 by Gendun Drup, the first Dalai Lama. It is one of the sixth tibetan monasteries in the Gelukpa tradition (Yellow Hats).

It used to be the residence of the successive Panchen Lama. 

In tibetan the full name of the monastery is " all fortune and happiness gathered here" or "heap of glory".
